Toronto Brain Health is a psychology practice serving adults aged 18 years and older. We provide assessment and treatment for concussion, moderate-to-severe or acquired brain injury, ADHD, psychological conditions, age-related changes, and early dementia. We also accept third-party referrals and conduct independent medical examinations. We are committed to providing high quality, compassionate, evidence-based services.

About the role:

The ideal candidate for the accounts/ billing clerk contract is an individual who is seasoned in all matters accounts receivable, payable, collections, third-party billing, reconciliation and staff invoices. The candidate would report directly to the two clinic directors, maintain, and share financial records with our bookkeeper and receive assistance, as needed, from our administration/ intake coordinators (receivables, client invoicing, collections). The candidate may already work full-time or part-time in a similar role and be looking for additional work.

Position: Accounting/ billing clerk, part-time, remote, contract-basis.
Work schedule: Flexible
Work hours / week: Approximately 8-12 hrs.
Pay: $26-28/ hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts receivable
  • Accounts payable (to vendors)
  • Collections of outstanding payments owed by third party payers or clients, with assistance as needed from our administration / intake coordinators.
  • Third party service billing e.g. HCAI, VAC, PCVRS, WSIB.
  • Direct billing to benefits providers.
  • End of month reconciliation.
  • Budget projections.
  • Invoices for staff.
  • Communications with bookkeeper (provide all needed documentation), for end-of-month financials.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Communicate with administration staff around client or third-party payors.
  • Respond to billing and payment inquiries in a calm, patient, and courteous manner.

Requirements:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience with billing / accounting in similar roles.
  • Ability to work independently in a contract role.
  • Excellent computer software knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is a MUST, with strong analytical skills to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Criminal record check

Assets:

  • Current / prior experience in billing / accounting role at a psychology practice.
  • Experience with direct billing and third-party service billing (HCAI, VAC, PCVRS, WSIB).
  • Prior experience with OWL Practice.
