Social Media Disclaimer

This disclosure outlines our policies related to use of social media. Please read below to understand how we conduct ourselves on the internet as mental health professionals, and how you can expect us to respond to various interactions that may occur online.

If you have any questions about the policies outlined here, we encourage you to contact us to discuss them.

Friending: Our Psychologists will not accept friend requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). We believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these websites can compromise your confidentiality and may blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.

Following: Toronto Brain Health has a number of social media profiles which we encourage people to follow (Facebook page, Twitter, Blog). Each of our associates may also have their own social media profiles. If a client follows their therapist using a recognizable name, the Psychologist may wish to briefly discuss this, as well as its potential impact on the therapeutic relationship with the client.

Messaging: Psychologists and associates at our practice will not use social media sites to interact with clients on a clinical level. Psychologists may not be able to respond to messages on social media platforms as quickly, or at all. We always suggest that clients call us directly regarding anything involving their treatment at our practice.

Confidentiality: Clients are responsible for any content that they decide to post publicly or privately on social media. We strongly advise clients to refrain from requesting clinical inquiries, or from posting personal clinical concerns on social media websites.

Please also be advised that posts on Toronto Brain Health social media pages, or social media profiles of our psychologists and associates must not be construed as clinical advice of psychological diagnoses or treatment.
